Pivarić seriously injured

Josip Pivarić got injured during the friendly match with Stromsgodset.

Pivarić has an anterior cruciate ligament injury and he will be out for the next few months. 

Even though coach Mamić asked all players to try to avoid any injury during this preseason, young defender got a serious injury. Pivarić probably won't be able to play for Croatia on the upcoming EURO in France.

- This could be a problem for us because Pivarić is one of the main players and he was the leader of our team. We will miss his energy, aggressiveness and quality and it won't be the same without him - said coach Mamić after a medical exam adding: - He is a hard working player and I believe he will recover till June. On the other hand, he won't play any game during this spring and I am afraid there won't be a chance for him to participate in Euro 2016.

- I don't have much to say... it couldn't be worse and I am really sad and disappointed. Anyway, I will try to work a lot in order to come back as soon as possible. We all know this is a serious injury and recovery takes several months - said Josip Pivarić.
