Defending champions got the fully deserved victory in Vinkovci and continued their way towards their eight consecutive league title. Excellent defender Tin Jedvaj scored a beautiful first goal for Dinamo and earned Modrih three points which could secure the title this weekend.
Dinamo came to Vinkovci with a lot of injury problems so Arijan Ademi, Jerko Leko, Duje Čop, Šime Vrsaljko and Luis Ibanez stayed in Zagreb. Despite that, Modri controlled the game from the first minute and it was obvious that Dinamo is a much better side. First chance came after less than 2 minutes when Husejinović placed a nice shot to the lower corner but Matković made his first big save of the day.
Youngster Dabro had couple of attempts but there was no real threat for Kelava while Sammir had a "one-on-one" situation in the 17th minute. Husejinović launched a counter attack, found Sammir who was alone in front of Matković who saved his shot with his left leg. From the corner kick after that, Krstanović was alone in the box but his shot ended on the wrong side of the post. Dinamo was pushing and in the 19th minute got the deserved lead.
Jedvaj intercepted the pass on 40 metres from Matković, got the ball right outside of the box and placed a beautiful shot in the left corner; unstoppable for 1:0 lead. 17-year old youngster who debuted and reached stars as a centre back and played a defensive midfielder last week got himself on the scoresheet as a – right full back.
Modri created several more chances before halftime but there was no more goals. In the second half, the pace of the game was much slower and the main reason for that is "first spring game" of the season. After a long period of matches followed by snow and rain, in Vinkovci was more than 20 degrees so in was a problem was both teams.
Cibalia tried with long distance shots by Vitaić but they weren't accurate. On the other side, Lee Addy had some great interceptions which can also be said for player of the match – Tin Jedvaj. Also, 16-year old Alen Halilović entered the game 20 minutes before the end and made some great runs to earn praise from the home fans.
Dinamo got their 20-th league victory of the season and, if some other results got their way, won the championship this weekend. Either way, no matter will that happen this or the following weekend, Dinamo is on their way towards the eight consecutive title.
