Two goals, hitting the crossbar and post, convincing performance, secure victory, the epithet "autumn champion", the year ended at the top of the table, applause from the audience... In an impressive atmosphere, in cold weather but with heated stands, the team from Maksimir concluded the autumn half-season. The Blues defeated Lokomotiva 2-0, which means they will end the calendar year at the top of the league table.
After just a few minutes of play, Dinamo found a corridor towards the goal and took the match into calmer waters. Sergi Dominguez sent the ball forward to the in-form Fran Topić, who skillfully received it with his right foot, with his back turned, moving excellently from the right towards the center and then, from a semi-turn, unleashed a left-footed shot from 20 meters into the opposite lower corner to take the lead.
Shortly after, Topić was on the verge of scoring his second goal. In the 24th minute, Matteo Perez Vinlöf crossed from the left to the "far post," and the young winger from Maksimir sent the header just above the goal from four meters away.
Soon after, both Lokomotiva and Dinamo were forced to change their lineup on the field. First, the visiting right-back Marcel Lorber got injured, and in the 35th minute, also due to injury, Dinamo's captain Josip Mišić had to leave the field, replaced by Marko Soldo.
The frame of Lokomotiva's goal vibrated twice at the end of the first half, and both times the "chaos" in front of the opponent's goal was caused by the experienced Dinamo midfielder Miha Zajc. In the 43rd minute, he took a shot from 18 meters, with a "knee jerk," hitting the crossbar. Shortly after, in the referee's added time of the first half, Dejan Ljubičić played a short pass to Zajc on the edge of the penalty area, who took a shot from 15 meters from the left, and goalkeeper Josip Posavec deflected the ball onto the post.
Dion Drena Beljo pulled a counterattack over half the field in the 54th minute, in a "one on one" situation the goalkeeper Posavec managed to save the shot, but the assistant referee had already signaled offside.
Lokomotiva were close to equalizing two minutes later, Aleksandar Trajkovski touched the ball in Dinamo's penalty area after a cross from the left, and goalkeeper Ivan Filipović managed to save with his foot on the goal line.
Two minutes later, the net shook on the other side. Once again, Topić was among the main actors, he crossed from the right, goalkeeper Posavec punched it out in flight, but only to a teammate from whom the ball bounced back towards the goal. Beljo intercepted it and with a skillful maneuver launched it into the empty net.
Luka Stojković pulled a half-counterattack in the 71st minute with a move on the right wing, tricked the defender, but sent the ball over the goal. A little later, Dominguez played a through ball to Sandro Kulenović, followed by a skillful turn and run by Dinamo's striker who then launched the ball past the opposite post from the right.
Stojković tried at the end of the match, played a through ball to Arbër Hoxhi, who was under pressure but managed to retain the ball and rush towards the penalty area from the left before hitting the outside of the net.
