Dinamo played a great game in Split and secured a big victory. Split showed that they are a great team and managed to keep a clean sheet in the first half but Modri pushed even more in the second half and scored three goals.
One look at the line-up was enough to know that Dinamo was going for the victory in Split. Only one defensive midfielder, Adrian Calello, three offensive midfielders Alispahić, Badelj and Kovačić and two strikers Beqiraj and Krstanović - more that enough to show coach Jurčić's idea: to dominate the game.
After more than three months of injury recovery Mehmed Alispahić is back. Offensive midfielder suffered an injury during the second leg of the 3. qualifying round against HJK.
Dinamo did exactly that. In the first 45 minutes Modri had possession but firm and well organized Split defense succerded to push Dinamo players away from Vuković. Despite having possession, Vuković didn't face any real tests; only attempts were some long distance shots from Alispahić and Ibanez. All that changed in the second half.
It was obvious that Dinamo shifted to the next gear and very soon came excellent chances. First it was Beqiraj who came late to Krstanović's cross in the 50th minute and three minutes later Split barely managed to save their net. Alispahić made a cross from the corner and Tonel's shot passed Vuković but only to find Budiša at the goal line.
Before the beginning of the game there was a minute of silence for 20 year anniversary of the fall of city of heroes - Vukovar. On the stands was a sign "Brave people, thank you for our freedom, 1991. - 2011." and the players came to the field holding "Remember Vukovar".
It was only a matter of time when will Dinamo break the deadlock and it finally happened in the 68th minute. Ibanez made a cross from the left side, Beqiraj came to the first post and with a brilliant one-touch placed the ball over Vuković to the net. Things went from bad to worse for Split when three minutes later Budiša received a second yellow card and left his team with ten players.
Dinamo continued to push and in the 78th minute Ibanez scored another nice Dinamo goal. Argentinian full back got rid of his marker on the edge of the area and placed a nice right foot shot that hit the post and ended in the back of the net. Just three minutes after that - it was 3:0 for Dinamo. Alispahić made a cross and Vida was on the right place and scored his first Dinamo goal.
Modri had a couple of chances till the end of the game but it remained 3:0; enough. Dinamo played a great game in Split and now the league table advantage stretched to ten points. The next match is on Tuesday when Modri play at the Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid.
