With the match against Porto on Tuesday Dinamo will open their Champions league campaign. Day before the match coach Ante Čačić and centre back Tonel came to the press conference and shared their expectations with the media.
- For years Porto has been at the top of European football and we have a great match ahead of us - said coach at the beginning and continued: - Our goal is to be better than next year and we have reasons to believe that we can achieve that. We have needed experience to play at this level and our unbeaten run that is now nine months is something everyone must respect.
Group A with Porto, PSG and Dynamo Kyiv is a strong one but coach has a lot of trust for his team: - You'll see that Dinamo will not give up points easily to no one; especially at home. This group is not so attractive but, in my opinion, it's stronger than the one last year with Real Madrid, Lyon and Ajax but we have our goals and we'll do everything to make them reality.
Centre back Tonel is now one of the main players in Dinamo's defensive line but at the beginning of his career he trained in Porto: - I expect a tough match for us but also for Porto - said Portuguese defender and continued: - I think our chance is that they didn't play a match for 20 days. They were all around the world with their national teams, didn't have a league game this weekend and, just like us the other day against Osijek, they must have some problems in that first game since the break.
Coach Čačić said that except injured Ivan Tomečak all the players are ready for the match and about the first team concluded: - It's only natural that we can't play the same like in the national championship but we are the team that like to play football and we'll try to do that against Porto too; like Tonel said, it will be a tough game for us but we'll do all in our power to make it as difficult as possible for them too.
