CIES Football Observatory announced on Monday the results of a survey according to which Dinamo is in the high fourth place in Europe in terms of clubs having trained the most footballers playing in 31 top divisions of UEFA member countries. The list includes the number of players who have gone through club academy and play in top leagues across Europe.
In its calculation, CIES included the 31 best leagues in the Old Continent, and this year there were 70 footballers who originated in Dinamo according to the criteria of FIFA "home-grown-player". This includes players who have spent at least three years in the academy between their 15th and 21st birthday.
At the top of this list is Ajax with 81 players ahead of Shakhtar with 75. Clubs with the same number of players are ranked according to the performance index, so Sporting is third, Zagreb's Dinamo is fourth, and Dinamo Kyiv is fifth, although all three clubs have 70 former players.
The CIES Football Observatory also developed the Training Index, an indicator weighting the number of players trained according to the sporting level of their employer clubs (through a coefficient based on domestic league and international club competitions results), their employment rate (over the last year), as well as their age (the younger, the better). Dinamo is at the fourth place also, while Ajax, Sporting and Real Madrid are ahead.
