Dinamo will play in the group stage of the Champions league! Despite 2:0 defeat in Malmö Dinamo took the win on aggregate thanks to a 4:1 win in Zagreb last week. Dinamo played a very good first half of the game but when Šime Vrsaljko was sent off in the 50th minute - Dinamo lived dangerously till the final seconds of the game.

First half of the game in Sweden was great for Dinamo and it didn't seem like Modri will have problems with qualifying to the group stage. Malmö did have more possession of the ball but only one real chance in the first 45 minutes. It was in the 5. minute when Wilton found Mehmeti but Kelava went off his goal, into the shot and saved his net.

Malmö controlled the game and did have slight domination but next great chance was the one for Dinamo. It was in the additional time of the first half when Sammir's great pass found Rukavina who managed to put the ball pass Malmö's Melicharek  but - missed the goal.

After just five minutes of the second half things went bad for Dinamo. Malmö players didn't put the ball out of the play while Leko was on lying on the pitch and Vrsaljko made a harsh foul on Durmaz who really made the most of the tackle and Vrsaljko was sent off. Off course, Malmö started to dominate the game and Dinamo couldn't connect more than a couple of correct passes but first - Rukavina had another great chance in the 56. minute.

Sammir made a great run which he ended with a shoot that was deflected by Melicharek but the ball came to Rukavina who was alone on 5-6 metres from the goal. To make things even easier, there was no goalie but only a couple of defenders on the goal line but Halsti saved Rukavina's attempt. Before Malmö scored - Dinamo had another excellent chance; again it was Rukavina.

Dinamo striker was served brilliantly by Kovačić and came one on one with Melicharek but hosts goalkeeper made another great save; minute after that - Malmö took the lead. Swedish champions earned a free kick on the left side of the area and Wilton's great shot went over the wall and into the net; it was in the 69. minute.

Naturally, coach Norling instantly made couple of offensive changes and the pressure on Dinamo's defense was just getting started. In the 76. minute Larsson had a fantastic chance but Kelava once again made a brilliant save but ten minutes later - even Kelava couldn't save Dinamo. There were a lot of players in Dinamo's area, Larsson got to the ball, the flag stayed down and in the 86. minute the result was 2:0.

Malmö had no reason to wait because one more goal was all they needed to go through to the group stage so even the goalkeeper Melicharek came forward on couple of occasions but the best chance was the one in the third of five additional minutes. After a set piece and a clearance by Modri, the ball came to Vinzents who's shot from the edge of the area was brilliantly saved by Kelava.

Dinamo did not play a good game in Malmö, in fact it was the worst performance of the season but Dinamo earned their place in the Champions league with a great game in Zagreb. None of the above is important because the final result is the only thing that counts and the final result puts Dinamo in the draw for the group stage of the Champions league!

Copied!
