Dinamo played a great game in the derby match against Hajduk, came back after shocking Hajduk early lead and got the fully deserved victory. Playmaker Sammir scored the equaliser after Caktaš gave Hajduk the lead after only 35 seconds, Duje Čop added one before halftime and Sammir finished the job in the second half. This game will also be remembered as the senior debut of wonderkind Alen Halilović who entered the game and showed some excellent skills in no more than 10 minutes.
Dinamo started the game against Hajduk very offensively, the way Modri usually play games in the national championship. Coach Ante Čačić placed Ademi and Kovačić in the middle with Čop, Sammir, Rukavina and Beqiraj in front. Totally unexpected, Hajduk took the lead seconds after kick-off. Vuković made a nice run on the right side, found Caktaš in the middle who had an easy job of scoring. Certainly, a shocking start to the game!
Naturally, Dinamo players were stunned with going behind so early in the game so couple of minutes later Hajduk had another chance but Kelava made an excellent save when Vuković striked a free kick. Unfortunately for the guest, that was it for them. After that free kick attempt it was only Dinamo who played, created numerous chances and scored goals.
It's tough to mention all the chances because there was so many of them and they started after 11 minutes when had his header saved by excellent Blažević. Ademi followed with a long distance strike and Vida threatened with a header. In the 16th minute Ademi did everything great, rushed through the box and came in front of Blažević but he made another great save. It was obvious that Dinamo will score, the only question was - when.
It finally happened in the 37th minute of the game after another great team move and a brilliant one from Sammir. After series of short passes is was Rukavina who made a cross to the box where Sammir got the ball and scored with a beautiful "air-volley" shot. After scoring the equaliser Dinamo didn't slow down; in fact, Modri pushed even more to get the lead before halftime and that's exactly what they did.
Kovačić, who played a magnificent derby game, did most of the job and gave a marvelous pass to Čop who escaped his defender, rushed to the box from the left and placed a nice shot to the far corner; unstoppable for Blažević.
Minutes after play in the second half, Dinamo had an excellent chance to finish the game. It was Kovačić again who passed beside couple of players and gave the ball to Beqiraj who easily outrun his marker but his shot ended beside the post. Modri didn't create so many chances in the second half which is normal due to the fact that they had the lead but Hajduk didn't have any.
Finally, in the 77th minute the game possible question of the winner was resolved. Right full back Vida rushed to the box, Vršajević tackled him from behind and the referee pointed to the spot so Sammir scored his 10th league goal in as many matches. When the winner was decided - it was time for another rising star in Maksimir, Alen Halilović.
Seven minutes before the end of the game, 16-year old Halilović replaced Sammir and entered the pitch. In those less than 10 minutes Halilović showed some amazing skills and even scored but the goal was ruled out because of on offside position by Krstanović.
It was a brilliant evening in Maksimir, Dinamo played an excellent game and got the fully deserved victory. Next game is on Wednesday when Modri play against Dynamo Kyiv in UEFA Champions league.
