Day of Remembrance

GNK Dinamo with pride and sorrow alongside the never forgotten victims of the Homeland War

Together, with pride, nostalgia, and sadness, today we remember all the heroes of the Homeland War and especially pay tribute to the never forgotten victims of Vukovar and Škabrnja. Their courage, strength, and sacrifice remain eternal symbols of the fight for freedom and dignity of our people.

GNK Dinamo, this Tuesday, November 18, marks 34 years since the tragedies that have become symbols of the difficult moments of the creation of independent Republic of Croatia, with special reverence observing the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Homeland War as well as the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Vukovar and Škabrnja.

The Maksimir club and the hero city are strongly connected with powerful emotions visible even on a symbolic level: the Blues brought back the name Dinamo on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2000, and played their first match under the "sacred name" five days later, precisely in Vukovar. More precisely - at the renovated stadium in Borovo.

"...and therefore, if it's not difficult for you, if there is still some youthful whispering in you, join us. Someone has touched my parks, benches where your names are still carved, the shade where you both gave and received your first kiss - someone simply stole everything, because how else to explain that even the shadows are gone?"
With pain that doesn't fade and gratitude that doesn't diminish, today we are with the Story of the city in thoughts with Vukovar and Škabrnja. We remember all the fallen, missing, and victims of the Homeland War, those who built their lives into the foundation of the freedom we live in Croatia today. Our heroes to whom we owe more than memories: we owe them to be worthy of their sacrifice.
"The city - that's you."
