Dinamo played a great game at the opening of Atlantic Cup and secured an convincing win! Modri showed a nice display and thanks to two goals from Jakub Sylvestr and one from Ivan Tomečak had a 3:0 lead after just 45 minutes while Odense scored a late goal to make it final 3:1.
Despite several injuries and missing players coach Ante Čačić put together a great squad and it seemed like no one was missing; on the contrary. Dinamo played in 4-2-3-1 formation with Sylvestr and Tomečak as wingers and Kovačić as playmaker behind Krstanović in attack.
All the things coach is asking from the players and those trained on practices - play focused on wingers, crosses from those positions and strong pressure on opposition defenders - is what Dinamo displayed today. Modri dominated the game from the beginning and very soon created first chances.
Because of injury problems coach Čačić couldn't count on Jerko Leko, Sammir, Ante Rukavina and Andrej Kramarić while third goalkeeper Oliver Zelenika was also in the stands.
Kovačić and Ibanez created the first chance for Krstanović but his header went beside the goal. Next chance came from the other side when Vrsaljko's cross found Sylvestr but the Slovakian striker's shot was saved by Wessels; fortunately, next one wasn't. In the 21st minute of the game Kovačić's pass found Sylvestr on the left side who placed a nice shot to the corner of the Wessels goal to make it 1:0.
Minute after that - it was 2:0. It was once again Sylvestr who entered the box from the left side, passed couple of defenders and scored another one; this one was really nice. Despite the big lead after just little bit more than 20 minutes of play - Dinamo didn't stop. Sylvestr and Tomečak were racing down the wings, Badelj orchestrated the midfield and Vida was great in defensive line.
Great play soon brought another goal. In the 33rd minute Tomečak made another run on the right side but this time didn't make the cross but entered the middle and placed a strong shot that ended in the back of the net.
In the second half, Dinamo played more careful with holding possession but still managed to create chances. Beqiraj and Alispahić made a couple of threats but Wessels saved his net. A lot of substitutes disturbed the rhythm of play in the second half but Dinamo dominated the game. Couple of minutes before time Reginiussen scored after a set pieces situation.
This way Dinamo opened Atlantic Cup with a victory and earned three points. The next match is against Helsingborgs.
