In the last game of the Champions league for Dinamo this season Modri played a very good game against Bayern and earned praise from 20 thousand fans but it was Robert Lewandowski who scored twice for the win.
Dinamo fans couldn't have wished for a better Christmas present than Bayern Munich at Maksimir. Off course, if there was a Santa Modri would have got a point or maybe three but it wasn't meant to be. And the game certainly could've easily ended differently. From the start of the game Bayern had possession but it was Dinamo who had chances; several of them.
Pivarić had a first chance in the 6th minute after a nice move by Rog and Ćorić but Ulreich made his first nice save of the day. On the other side Ribery placed a shot beside the post while Lewandowski's attempt was cleared by Sigali. With three central midfielders and Ćorić as playmaker in front of them Modri where very dangerous in attack.
In the 26th minute Modri had a 100 % chance when Antolić found Soudani who was in front Ulreich but Bayern keeper made another great save. Modri didn't stop there and it was Soudani again who had a great chance after Ćorić's cross from the free kick but his header went over an empty goal. At the start of the second half – forth great chance for Croatian champions.
Soudani and Fernandes managed to get through the defence, Chilean winger come to the box from the right side but it was Ulreich who once again made a brilliant save with his hand. It was in the 55 minute and several minutes later Bayern punished all the misses. Half time sub Müller made a cross from the right side and Lewandowski headed the ball to the net; simple as it gets. Minute later it was Müller who had his chance ended over the goal but in the 64th minute Bayern extended the lead. Rode made a pass towards Lewandowski who was in the box and easily chipped the ball over Eduardo for 2:0.
Modri refused to give up, they were searching for a well deserved goal but the ball didn't wan't to go in. First in the 68th minute Pivarić made a pass towards Soudani in the box when he could have decided to shot because he was in front of Ulreich. Minute later – the bar. It was Pivarić again in the box, this time he decided for a shoot and the ball hit the bar. The final result could have big even bigger when couple of minutes from time Vidal was brought down in the box but Müller hit the post from the penalty kick.
Dinamo played another good game in the Champions league and certainly has a lot to regret for not winning any points but on the other hand the players have a lot of reasons to be proud on their display against one of the top teams in the world.
