Dinamo enrolled a new victory in the 12th round of the MAXtv 1st HNL. With two goals (Rukavina and Krstanović) Krunoslav Jurčić's team won 2:0 against Rijeka. Even though visiting team was trying to play hard, Dinamo dominated in the second half and made 10th victory in the Croatian league.
Coach Jurčić couldn't count on Milan Badelj, Mateo Kovačić, Pedro Morales and Mehmed Alispahić in tonight's game and that was a problem for the game in the middle of the field, especially in the first half. Rijeka played defensively - they formed two lines 30 meters from their goal and there was no way for Dinamo to come close Rijeka's goalkeeper Lisjak. Dinamo had a chance to score in the 5th minute when Ante Rukavina sent the ball right to Lisjak, but not enough precisely.
Dinamo couldn't find a way to go through Rijeka's defense and it was a little bit hard for home team to enter the penalty area. In the 28th minute Domagoj Vida had a great chance to change the result - he got the ball right in front of Rijeka's goalkeeper but his shot went just by the stand. Except Vida, Tomečak and Pokrivač were also trying to score, but unsuccessfully.
In the second half Dinamo decided to play more agressive and offensively. That was a good change of tactics and Modri finally scored - Luis Ibanez got the ball and found Ivan Krstanović in the centre. Dinamo's striker settled down the ball with his head for Ante Rukavina, and Rukavina scored for 1:0.
After Dinamo scored, Rijeka didn't try to reach a result, they continue to play defensively and Dinamo controlled the game. The second goal came in 79th minute - after the great combination of Šime Vrsaljko and Ivan Tomečak, Vrsaljko passed Rijeka's defense players on the right side and sent the long ball to Krstanović. Krstanović got the ball in the penalty area and put it easily into Lisjak's net for 2:0.
Dinamo had few half-chances till the end of the match but the result stayed 2:0. Jurčić's team got new three points and the next official game is on schedule for Tuesday (October, 25th) when HAŠK will host Dinamo in the 1/8 finals of the Croatian cup.
