Dinamo suffered a big defeat against Lyon in the last round of the group stage. Modri played a very good first half of the game, even took the lead and than suffered a total breakdown in the second half and conceded six goals.

Dinamo opened the game very good and played a great first 45 minutes of the game. Sammir opened the match with a long shot which wasn't accurate; just like the one from Gourcuff on the other side. After 15 minutes of nice play around 16.000 spectators saw the first great change. Gourcuff found Briand who chips the ball over Kelava but it goes next to the bar.

Modri responded when Sammir had a nice chance but Lloris showed his skills and saved Lyon. In the 28th minute of the game first bad thing of the evening happened to Dinamo. Leko made a tackle from behind and Mark Clattenburg decided to show him the second yellow card what left Dinamo with 10 players. Lyon threatened when Briand had a chance after the corner but Kelava made a great save while Ibanez's attempt was once again saved by Lloris on the other side.

Despite being man down, Dinamo took the lead after 40 minutes. Beqiraj made a lot of work, raced through the defence, made a shot and passed the rebound to Kovačić who put the ball to the net. Lyon immediately pressed harder and their effort came back in additional time of the first half when Cissokho's cross took a deflection, went over Kelava and it was Gomis who had an easy job of scoring.

Before the game Lyon needed to "chase" seven goal difference and three points Ajax lead and when the news that Real is leading in Amsterdam came to Lyon players - a new team came out in the second half. On the other hand, Dinamo players were completely "out of the game" and looked like a team that is far from Champions league quality. In just seven minutes Lyon scored three times; Gonalons converted after the corner, minute after that Gomis scored his second and in the 52nd minute completed his hat-trick.

Coach Remi Garde felt that Lyon can achieve a big victory so Lisandro Lopez and Ederson entered the pitch and Lyon continued to trash Dinamo. Gomis hit a bar in the 63rd minute and minute after that it was 5:1 when Lisandro scored after another great play from Lyon. French side reached the needed five goal difference in the 70th minute when Gomis scored his fourth goal while five minutes after that Briand made it 7:1.

After that - Lyon stopped. Their players calmly kept possession and finished the game before their big and well deserved celebration.

As for Dinamo is concerned, this was a very ugly farewell to the great season and year behind us. What else can we say than to apologize to all the fans for all embarrassment they suffered tonight at Maksimir.

Copied!
