Dinamo played a great match in the 8th round of 1. HNL against Varaždin and secured a magnificent 7:0 victory. Guests were no match for Dinamo and the final result comes from great Modri pressure and more than 20 goal attempts.
Coach Krunoslav Jurčić decided to rest couple of players so Rukavina, Leko, Sammir and Kelava didn't play against Varaždin but the players who got their chance certainly proved they deserve to be in Maksimir. The game didn't start for Dinamo the way Modri hoped and Varaždin had couple of chances in front of Lončarić but Dinamo very soon took over the control of the game and - the lead.
In the 17th minute Modri earned a corner kick after which the ball came to Pokrivač who's shot ended in the net. After the lead Dinamo played even better and the pressure on Varaždin defense was getting to hard to handle. Beqiraj had a great chance in the 35th minute but Krklec managed to save his shot. Unfortunately for Varaždin, Krklec didn't do the same two minutes before the break. Ibanez took the free kick from more than 25 metres and even though the shot was very strong - Krklec could have reacted better but - he didn't so the half time result was 2:0.
First five minutes of the second half were like from a dream for Dinamo fans. In the 47th minute Beqiraj converted an excellent assist from Kovačić to make it 3:0 and couple of minutes after that - Barišić received a red card. Kovačić made another brilliant pass, Krstanović was going one on one with Krklec when Barišić tackled him from behind and referee showed him to the locker room. To make it even better for Dinamo fans - Kovačić scored from the free kick and made it 4:0.
Off course, Dinamo didn't stop after the lead and it was obvious that the next 40 minutes will be very tough for Varaždin players. Very soon after the expulsion - it was 5:0. Krklec once again didn't react well on a shot from Ibanez and the ball was behind his back. Coach Jurčić made several changes but the most significant one was the entrance of long time injured Pedro Morales who made his first appearance of the season. To make it even better - Morales very soon scored to make it 6:0. It was a classical Morales goal - strong shot from the edge of the box to the corner of the net. In the last minute of the game, Krstanović made it 7:0 after he converted a loose ball to the net.
Dinamo continued a streak of great displays and the next game is Radoboj in the national Cup on Tuesday.
