We will remember four key sequences from the football thriller directed by Dinamo and Malmo's footballers tonight: after a corner kick, Zagreb's footballers hit the crossbar, three minutes later the hosts, also after a corner, scored a goal in the final seconds of the first half, Dinamo's goalkeeper Ivan Nevistić prevented what seemed like a certain goal for the hosts in the continuation, and Dinamo managed to equalize at the very end of the referee's added time and ignite the joy of numerous Croatian fans in the Swedish stands.
In a dramatic match of the 3rd round of the Europa League, Dinamo and Malmö played 1:1 in a game where coach Mario Kovačević's team almost completely controlled the game, dominated on the field, held possession, but without too many concrete chances...
The ball was mostly dancing on the home side of the field, but despite such a distribution of figures, Dinamo's net first shook. Home left winger Sead Hakšabanović was rushing down the right side at that moment, trying to find space with dribbles and managed to win a corner kick.
From the corner, Otto Rosengren crossed, and Oscar Lewicki headed the ball in the fall... The ball grazed Scott McKenna, bounced off the ground, and "frogged" past goalkeeper Nevistić.
And we can only imagine in which direction the game would have gone if just three minutes earlier before the Swedish goal, Dinamo had such a dose of luck in a similar situation. Miha Zajc crossed from the corner, Sergi Dominguez headed the ball, and goalkeeper Melker Ellborg deflected it into the crossbar...
Dinamo played more aggressively in the final stages of the match, energetically pushing for an equalizer. First, Cardoso Varela initiated a counterattack from the right wing, sharply crossing into the six-yard box where the ball deflected off the leg of defender Andrej Đurić and rolled towards the goal post. This happened in the third minute of stoppage time, with the Zagreb team continuing to press forward, which paid off three minutes later. Mounsef Bakrar On the left, he pulled vigorously, goalkeeper Ellborg rejected the ball. In the continuation of the action, Luka Stojković accepted it, sent a vertical pass into the penalty area where Bakrar ran in from the left again and skillfully chipped it between captain Pontus Jansson and the goalkeeper. The ball flew towards the net, with Varela and home defender Gabriel Busanello right on the goal line. The Dinamo teenager thereby confirmed the goal for the final equalizer.
Busanello himself, at the very start of the match, in the 4th minute, sent a long vertical pass on the left side to Emmanuel Ekong who initiated a counterattack. In the continuation, he played. Busanellu's return that followed the action to the end, shot from 12 meters, but Nevistić tamed the ball. It already sparked on the other side in the next attack, the captain of Maksimir Josip Mišić skillfully played a deep ball into the penalty area, Mateo Lisica accepted it in the crowd, Zajc entered, but the ball got stuck at the top of the six-yard box... Arbër Hoxha rushed down the left side in the 17th minute, crossed in front of the goal, Dion Drena Beljo aimed with his head at the "far post," but the goalkeeper managed to prevent the goal.
On the wings of a goal in the very end of the first half, the Swedes enthusiastically opened the continuation of the match. Hugo Bolin accepted the ball on the left side seven meters from the goal in a clear situation, strongly struck a volley, and Nevistić brilliantly stopped the ball. Soon after, the lively Bolin found Kenan Busuladžić in a semi-counterattack, who aimed for the opposite lower corner from 16 meters, slightly to the right, but the ball flew past the post.
Dinamo, therefore, increased the pace towards the end. Mišić took a shot from 17 meters just over the goal in the 81st minute, and two minutes later Stojković initiated a semi-counterattack, played to the left for Gabriel Vidović, who headed into the penalty area, and Bakrar hit the goalkeeper. Zagreb residents in a series of attacks finally found a corridor towards the goal. Their next challenge in the Europa League awaits them on November 6th when they will host the Spanish Celta at Maksimir Stadium.
