Dinamo head coach Nenad Bjelica and central defender Kevin Theophile-Catherine held a press conference ahead of UEFA Europa League matchday 2 encounter Anderlecht - Dinamo.
"As a rule, I'm not talking publicly about the good and bad sides of an opponent, I'm talking only about my team. Anderlecht is a quality team which is a Belgian football institution. We certainly respect this. They have good players and they are a strong opponent. They may not be in a good shape at the moment, but they have good potential - coach Bjelica said at the beginning of the conference.
Is this a crucial match for advancing into the next round of the competition?
"I do not think this is a crucial match, because in the best case of winning we have six points, and that still does not guarantee anything yet. Every game is crucial to us. We are focused on the match, we want to win and we believe we have a good chance. We will need to work hard, but I also believe in my team and our success. I do not think therefore that this is the crucial match, nor the three points if we win it will be enough for the next round."
Coach thought's about Anderlecht's crisis?
"I think they are a serious team with an experienced coach. They have extraordinary individuals, this season they get stronger with the new signings. Surely the adaptation to the new club is not easy. Can they do better in the UEFA Europa League, time will show, I would not go into it."
Is Anderlecht one of the favorites in the group stage?
"Our victory against Fenerbahce and Spartak's victory against Anderlecht in the first round was surprising. We'll see, it's a new game ahead of us. I think they are the favorites of our group, with Fenerbahce, because they have top players. There are also clubs with a great tradition; they indeed remain favorites."
A brief overview of the last match, draw with Hajduk at Poljud?
"Dinamo can do more than we did in the derby with Hajduk. There remains the impression that we could've won there, though 0-0 at Poljud is never a bad result. We told the players that neither the Cup against Sloga was at the level as the previous game and I'm sure we will have a good game in Bruxelles."
Who is the biggest threat in Anderlecht?
"They have a lot of good players, but of no one I'm afraid. There are players which we can close down and deal with. There are those who came for significant amounts of money, as well as those who played in the first league in France or Spain. They are great players, but nobody is scared. We believe we can play the group stage well and get a good result in the UEFA Europa League. These are great teams, undoubtedly great challenges for us. Fenerbahce, Anderlecht, and Spartak are quality teams. We enjoy playing UEFA Europe League matches and we will try to meet the expectations of Dinamo which are not small to the end", Bjelica said at the end of the press conference.
