Šimunić: There was an increase risk of injuries
After the Hajduk - Dinamo match was postponed we spoke to our captain Josip Šimunić.
- I must admit it was an unpleasant surprise to see Poljud like this; I've never seen it before. To postpone the match was the expected decision even though this disturbs our rhythm because we have to go back to Zagreb and than return here in a couple of days - said our coach Krunoslav Jurčić.
- We are really sorry things turned out this way. Everyone must know that we are not glad for losing two days, now returning to Zagreb and than back to Split on Tuesday to play the match the next day. Despite all that, there was no way the match could be played today - said our captain and explained what happened when he went out to the pitch with referee Bebek and Hajduk captain Mirko Oremuš.
- We went to check the pitch conditions but, as everyone on the stands saw, the ball couldn't bounce at all. There was no way the game could be played on that pitch because bad conditions increase risk of injuries - concluded our captain.
