Dinamo is once again the national Cup winner! Dinamo and Osijek played a little slower first 45 minutes but the second half of the game was something spectators will remember for a long time. Dinamo got in front after a brilliant move by Mateo Kovačić and very soon after that Fatos Beqiraj made it 2:0. Unlucky own goal by Šime Vrsaljko made it 2:1, then Ivan Kelava saved the penalty kick and Luis Ibanez scored for 3:1 in additional time.
The match began with early pressure from Dinamo, but Osijek's defense was very good. Badelj and Calello played in the middle, Leko, Sammir and Kovačić were in front of them and finally Vrsaljko and Pivarić played on left/right side. Osijek played reserved from the first minute and it was hard to pass to their goalkeeper Vargić.
U19 Dinamo team won the Croatian cup! The final match was played before the senior Cup final, and Dinamo won 2:1 against Osijek.
Osijek was waiting to succeed on the counter-attack and their chance came in the 13th minute. Maglica took the ball and passed it to Kvržić who sent the ball straight to Kelava. Dinamo had some chances, Leko was persistent in trying to score, but every attack ended with blocking. Simply, it was not Dinamo from the last few matches.
Dinamo won the 12th Croatian Cup and 8th double crown in the last 22 years!
The second half of the match was incredibly interesting and very tense! Dinamo players had a great desire to score and luckily - it happened soon. Kovačić got the ball on the left side and ran towards the middle. He pulled the ball from the edge of the penalty area and scored for 1:0! After the first goal, Osijek loosen up the defense and the second goal came in 63rd minute. Sammir precisly passed the ball to Leko who sent it to Beqiraj. Dinamo's striker scored with his head and the result was 2:0 for Dinamo.
Even though Dinamo put in high gear, Osijek decreased the result. Kvržić shot the ball from the centre, it passed penalty area and after that the ball hit the door. Vrsaljko wanted to send the ball into the corner, but he accidentally sent it right into the net. It was unlucky autogoal for 2:1.
Osijek will play qualifications for the UEFA Europa League. Congratulations!
The match was really amusing in the last 20 minutes. Both teams had some great chances and they were looking for a way to score. Kelava had a great defense in the 81st minute when Maglica came right in front of him. Just few minutes after, Tonel made an offense and the referee gave the signal for a penalty kick for Osijek. Lukačević went to the white point, but Kelava saved his direct penalty kick!! The extra time brought another goal for Dinamo, Ibanez was the scorer.
Congratulations to the team and coaching staff for the double crown!
