Dominant Dinamo hits 3 posts and wins a point

Again 1:1! In the third game of the season Modri in Osijek played the best game so far but again the result was 1:1. Being a much better team and hitting the post no less than three times wasn't enough for the win and Modri travel back home with a point.

Modri came to Osijek to take the first win of the season and after 90 minutes they've certainly deserved it but a better team doesn't always win in football. As planned, coach Mamić changed several players and started the game with debutants Benković and Barišić in the back with Rog as offensive midfielder.

Unfortunately, the thing that didn't change was start of the game and Dinamo once again conceded early in the game. In the 11th minute Šorša made a nice run on the right side, gave a back pass to Radotić who shoots from the edge of the box and the ball went through Eduardo to end in the net. Modri pushed forward immediately after Osijek's lead and decided to get back in the game as soon as possible.

In the 14th minute Pjaca escaped defence and hit the post and Soudani hit another one just a minute later. Osijek didn't have an answer and in the 15th minute it was 1:1. A lot of players were in the box, Henriquez placed a shot that was block but the ball came to Soudani who scored to get things back to the beginning.

Modri continued to dominate and searched for the lead but Mikulić made couple of nice saves. First he stopped attempts from Soudani, Pjaca and Rog in the first half only to continue with the same in the second 45 minutes. Coach Mamić started the second half with Fernandes who entered the pitch with Rog staying in the locker room but much didn't change.

Dinamo was dominating, the ball was almost all the time in front of Osijek's box but it was very hard to get through to Mikulić. Modri tried from set pieces with Benković's header and in the 80th minute captain Ademi's shoot ended inches beside the post. In the 89 minute Modri had another great chance when Henriquez placed a brilliant header and hit the far post. After that it was obvious that Dinamo won't take all three points back to Zagreb.

Never the less, Dinamo played a very good game in Osijek with creating numerous chances and this was a great preview for the return leg in Luxembourg.
