Maxime Bernauer continues his career on loan at Saint-Etienne

He was in the starting lineup in key matches in the successful title fight at the end of last season, participated in big victories against Salzburg and Slovan in the Champions League last fall, and was also the good spirit of the Maksimir team and spread a cheerful atmosphere among teammates... Now, after a year and a half in the blue jersey, he continues his career in a new environment: Maxime Bernauer will spend the spring part of the competition on loan in the French Ligue 1 club Saint-Etienne, with the mentioned club having the right to buy out the contract at the end of the season.

The already experienced Maksimir center-back grew up in the youth ranks of Rennes, and came to Zagreb in the summer of 2023 after two seasons in the second division in Paris. With Dinamo, he won the double crown last year, and was also part of the team that grabbed the Super Cup at the start of the season.

Last year, he was one of the key players in Dinamo's defense in the battle for the title, being in the starting lineup in matches against then direct competitors - in the victory against Hajduk in Split with 1:0, against Rijeka at Rujevica with 2:1 and then against Osijek in Maksimir with 1:0 when the Blues mathematically secured the title. Furthermore, he previously assisted with a header to Sandro Kulenović for the victory against Lokomotiva in Kranjčevićeva with 1:0 in the 31st round and thus kept the Blues in the title race.

He was also in the starting 11 in the victory against Betis in Seville with a 1-0 scoreline to advance to the Round of 16 of the Conference League. Ultimately, he initiated two goal-scoring actions in both important matches against Qarabag in the Champions League play-off this season, later contributing to the away wins against Salzburg and Slovan in the group stage, and then in the draw against Celtic in Zagreb.

Bernauer's repertoire in the blue jersey is wide, and among other things, we will especially remember him for his friendly approach, emotion, dedication, and positive energy that won the sympathy of his teammates from the very beginning.

In Dinamo, he played 43 official matches with two goals scored, and if we add friendly matches, the number rises to 61 appearances. His next stop is Saint-Etienne, a team from the elite class of French football, a big club for which two of Bernauer's former teammates from Dinamo also played - Kevin Theophile-Catherine and Ronaël Pierre-Gabriel.

Dear Max, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your tremendous effort and emotion, for everything you have given in Dinamo, and we wish you all the best in your future career.
