The young Spanish defender, 191 centimeters tall Sergi Dominguez, former member of Barcelona, is the new player of Dinamo. Dominguez has signed a multi-year contract with the Blues, and comes to Maksimir after going through the Barcelona football school, popularly known as La Masia.
In the team of coach Mario Kovacevic, he will compete for a place in the central part of the defensive line, primarily as a right center-back. He was born on April 1, 2005 in Barcelona, took his first steps in the local club, Sant Gabriel, and at the age of 15 joined La Masia where he progressed through the age groups from U-16 to U-19, played for the youth team and then made it to the first team of Barcelona.
He was a member of the Spanish cadet and junior national teams, and in the U-19 national team he briefly served as captain.
In the last two seasons, he played for Barcelona Atletic, the young team of the Catalan club, which competed in senior competition in the third tier of Spanish football. He made his debut for the young team a bit earlier, in the spring of 2023, after recovering from an injury. In the fall of 2023, he also played for the juniors in the UEFA Youth League, UEFA's Champions League for young players.
Last season, he was part of Barcelona's first team squad, playing six official matches, two of which were in the Champions League.
"I am excited to have arrived in Zagreb. Of course, Dani Olmo has told me a lot about the club and the city, so I have great and positive expectations. Dinamo is a club that wins trophies and that's why I came here. I want to continue developing and I think this is the right club for a young player like me. I can't wait to join the guys and prepare as best as we can for the new season." - Dominguez said after signing the contract.
Welcome Sergi, to the club! We wish you good luck and success in the blue jersey!
