New name

Wilfried Kanga is the newest Dinamo acquisition

Experienced striker Wilfried Kanga is the new player of Dinamo, and will strengthen the competition in the offensive part and expand the attacking potential of the blues. He signed a multi-year contract and came as a player from Hertha Berlin, spending the autumn part of the current season on loan at Cardiff City.

Born on February 21, 1998 in the Parisian suburb of Montreuil-sous-Bois. In his younger years, he briefly played for the French U-20 national team, while later in his senior career he wore the jersey of the Ivory Coast. He went through the Paris Saint-Germain academy with whom he played in the final of the UEFA Youth League in 2016, where they were narrowly defeated by Chelsea 2-1, scoring a goal in the semifinal against Real Madrid in a 3-1 victory. He later played on loan for Creteil, then for Angers, Turkish Kayserispor, Swiss Young Boys, Berlin's Hertha, and on loan at Belgian Standard and Cardiff City.

–  I play as a forward, and from my football qualities, I could highlight my strength in the game, my ability to seek depth, retain the ball... – Kanga emphasized in a brief introduction immediately after signing the contract.

Dinamo's new coach Fabio Cannavaro prefers forwards who play with strong intensity. How well does this style suit you? Based on what you just mentioned, it seems like it will suit you.

– Yes, it should be a good match, I think coach Cannavaro and I have a similar way of thinking, a similar view on football, and I believe I will adapt to the team as they and the coach want, as well as my teammates.

You have played in different countries, experienced different styles of play, in France, Turkey, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, and finally in the English Championship. In which environment did you feel the best?

- I think the style of play that suited me the most was the one we played in Switzerland. It was a different way of playing compared to the clubs I played for later. I scored a lot of goals because we played offensively, as a team, aimed for ball possession... There were also good teammates in the background. We mostly had the ball at our feet. It was a pleasure to play in Switzerland.

You haven't had the opportunity to be at Dinamo's training camp yet, you haven't met the new teammates. What are your expectations based on what you have learned so far about the team's quality?

– I know we have a lot of talent, that there are many exceptionally quality, technically skilled players in the team. The team spirit is emphasized, which the coach also insists on. I believe we will improve where needed and that we will be satisfied at the end of the season.

What are your memories of your six seasons spent at the PSG academy? You played, for example, in the final of the UEFA Youth League where you skipped Real, and you scored the crucial goal.

- Yes, I scored against Real in the semi-final, later Chelsea beat us in the final... The experience at PSG was great. I have only good memories, it was a good foundation for progress. I developed there, both in terms of playing and character. I played with many good footballers, great characters, and that period helped me a lot in my development - Kanga concluded.
