Beljo scores again, Kotarski makes debut, Dinamo extends unbeaten streak to 28 matches with victory
Dinamo – Gorica 1-0
A powerful strike from Dion Drena Beljo with a turn in a crowded penalty area that sent the ball into the net secured Dinamo's victory, and the Maksimir team extended their impressive statistical streak this evening, linking together 28 league matches without defeat. In the 6th round match of the SuperSport HNL, Dinamo defeated Gorica 1-0 in a match where the home side came close to scoring another goal, while the visitors hit the crossbar late in the game...
This Saturday, new Maksimir goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski played his debut match for Dinamo, Luka Ivanušec made his first return appearance, while Kirill Kravtsov appeared in the starting lineup for the first time...
Gorica were forced into two changes due to injuries in the first half, with Stjepan Kučiš coming off in the 13th minute and Stefan Perić in the 25th minute.
The action started early, with Moris Valančić delivering a cross in the 6th minute and Luka Stojković heading the ball just wide of the post. In the next attack in the same minute, on the other end Kevin Ćustović crossed from the right to the far post, Kučiš struck powerfully, the ball bounced off the ground, but Kotarski reacted brilliantly.
Sergi Dominguez in the 23rd minute sent a vertical low ball into the penalty area from the right side, Stojković ran onto it and struck powerfully, but goalkeeper Renato Josipović managed to save it. Just five minutes later Dinamo took the lead. It was a long attack by the blues, Valančić charged down the right side into the penalty area, cut back, the ball deflected off Juraj Frigan, and Beljo, with his back to goal, flicked it towards the net with his heel. However, Tom Lacoux cleared it off the goal line, but Beljo with another attempt from a turn hammered it into the goal.
Dinamo came close to another goal in the second half, Valančić crossed in the 54th minute, Beljo flicked it down with his heel, Miha Zajc struck a volley from 14 meters, and Josipović pushed it out from the corner. Soon after, Stojković curled in a free kick from the right, Beljo flicked it down again, the ball deflected off a block, Kravtsov rushed in, but the impressive Josipović prevented the goal with another brilliant save.
Then the visitors from Velika Gorica also pushed for an equalizer. Jakov Pranjić in the 60th minute won the ball in the penalty area on the left side and from a turn 17 meters out sent a low shot just wide of the near post. Gorica threatened within just two minutes. First Ivan Cvijanović in the 74th minute found himself completely alone 14 meters out on the left side and with his left foot sent the ball against the crossbar.
Immediately after, in an action following a free kick, Filip Braut received the ball and alone from seven meters struck first time, but Kotarski made a brilliant save to prevent the equalizer. Center-back Dušan Stevanović also tried in the final minute, heading the ball over the goal from five meters out.
