Dinamo B took the lead, but points go to Sesvete

Dinamo B – Sesvete 1-2

An interesting match, several impressive moves, solid play and a comeback marked the first match in which Dinamo B hosted at home in Zaprešić this season. The young Maksimir footballers welcomed Sesvete in the 7th round of SuperSport Prva NL, took a 1-0 lead, but in the end the points went to the far east of the city. Sesvete celebrated with a 2-1 victory.

Dinamo's striker Leonardo Perković found himself in a good chance in the 8th minute, goalkeeper Karlo Žiger saved the ball, but the blue number nine shook the net on his second attempt. However, the ball hit Perković's hand in the process, so the goal was not awarded.

But everything was clean three minutes later when the blues took the lead. Gabrijel Šivalec led the attack, played to the left where Jona Benkotić was positioned, who ran into the penalty area, sent a cross into the middle, and there Josip Brundić ran onto it and slotted it into the goal.

Sesvete threatened in the 24th minute, Dominik Ravlić found Samid Akanni, who dropped the ball into the penalty area where Petar Antolković was charging from the left side and fired powerfully, but goalkeeper Tai Žnuderl saved the ball.

The visitors equalized in the 33rd minute, Moses Barnabas shot from 18 meters into the block, and in the scramble Akanni ran onto the rebound and scored from seven meters on the right for 1-1. Less than 10 minutes later, Sesvete completely turned the result around. Barnabas headed the ball from the right into the middle, Žnuderl rushed out, but instead of the ball he caught Akanni. The penalty taker was Ravlić.

There were no goals in the second half, but both teams created some chances. Within just one minute, in the 56th and 57th, there was action at both ends of the pitch. First Roko Brajković led the visitors' attack and in the continuation of the move Matija Kanceljak broke through alone, but Žnuderl made a brilliant save.

In the next move Sven Šunta fired powerfully towards the Sesvete goal, and the ball deflected off the block and in a high arc flew just past the post.

Brundić also tried with a powerful shot in the 68th minute, and goalkeeper Žiger managed to save the ball, five minutes later Mislav Ćutuk also shot from a turn from seven meters into the block, in the next move Šunta had a go, but the visiting goalkeeper stopped it on the goal line...

Dinamo's goalkeeper, Žnuderl, stopped three consecutive shots from the visitors in the 80th minute. Anes Huskić led a counter-attack, and in a one-on-one situation Žnuderl saved with his foot. Brajković ran up and shot twice in a row with his head, with Dinamo's goalkeeper first saving with his left then right hand.

After this test, the young Dinamo team will head to England where they will face Tottenham Hotspur at the start of the Premier League International Cup.

– I think we deserved at least a point in this match, but that's football. We showed good play, dominance on the field, but sometimes we lack the muscle to get the ball into the goal. The action for the first goal was beautiful. We tried to play, we didn't want to just boot it long, and I must say that the pitch is one of the better ones for playing in our league. We'll try to use that in the upcoming matches. We move on, in a few days we have a match against Tottenham. I think we're growing despite the defeat. After all, you could see that we don't give up, that we're looking for goals, in all matches we've been attacking, we'll continue like that, we want to play recognizably, offensively so we don't skip the play. It's normal that there will be mistakes and situations that we don't like, but that's also part of growing up – highlighted coach Jerko Leko.
