Two consecutive wins, complemented by spectacular goals, are a great curtain-raiser for the start of a new football weekend. On Friday at 15:30, Dinamo b will host Karlovac in Zaprešić in Matchday 9 of the SuperSport Prva NL.

– We are slowly adapting to the challenges. The boys have seen that they can play in senior competition and that they have space to do so, and these last two wins have filled them with confidence. I expect us to keep growing, but we know there will be fluctuations too. We are satisfied with the direction we are heading in. Two home matches in a row are coming up, first against Karlovac and then Cibalia, so against strong opponents, and that is another chance for our boys to show their quality. If they do what we agree on, then we can expect players for the first team – said head coach Jerko Leko.

Last weekend, Dinamo b beat Segesta 3-1 in Sisak, producing an inspired performance and some spectacular goals. The first goal came after a brilliant team move, and the other two from long-range strikes.

– The first half in Sisak was one of the best since I became coach here. The boys played really well and dominated, and we could have scored another goal or two. Still, when we played a high line, the opponent threatened on the counter and some balls got in behind us, so we have to fix that. But we managed to impose ourselves, and the boys are becoming bolder. We need to work on our attacks down the flanks, where we have to be more incisive.

Egor Molchan and Lautaro Ultra made their debuts in Sisak.

– Molchan is an option on the wing, playing on the right side with his left foot. He is an interesting player and technically very strong. Ultra will also get his chance, like everyone else. It is up to them to make the most of the opportunity.

Fuzy Taylor scored his first goal, a masterful strike from almost 30 metres into the top corner.

– Taylor is a good player, mobile, with a good reading of the game, and a goal like this is simply a reward. I am glad we are scoring in this way too, with a shot from distance. We scored the first goal through combination play, but we can do it like this as well.

Karlovac are a side with several young players, but they also have older ones with top-flight experience.

– That's right, I even coached some of them. They are quite a good team, led by a coach who has been there for a long time. They have a recognisable style and rely on transitions, so we have to be careful there. I believe we will impose ourselves in possession and correct the weaknesses we had earlier on, for example in Bijelo Brdo, where we did not solve situations against a low block. But we have worked on that too.

What is the squad situation?

– Nikola Radnić and Jona Benkotić will not be available for this match, as they will join our junior team, led by coach Milan Badelj, this weekend. Ayoub Makhfaoui felt some muscle problems, and since he has already had a long-term injury, we will not take any risks. Everyone else is ready, and we will be good – concluded coach Leko.
