Six goals scored away against Vukovar in a convincing 6-2 victory brought smiles to the faces of Dinamo's young footballers. In their first two league matches, despite possession and control of the game for most of the match, they still suffered defeats. Therefore, the victory in their third outing was important on multiple levels: both for the points and for boosting confidence. Dinamo B's next test awaits on Sunday at 5 PM in the 4th round of the SuperSport First NL, where they will be welcomed by Kustošija at the Lučko ground.

– After a victory, the week is always easier, that's how it was for us after the match against Vukovar 1991. But the lads didn't suddenly start playing brilliantly, just as they weren't bad in the first two matches either. It takes time, this match opened up in the best way – with three shots and three goals, which wasn't the case in the first two. They must continue working, be concentrated on every detail. Every little thing can make the difference. There are quite a few experienced players in this league, especially at Kustošija where, for example, my former teammate El Arabi Hilal Soudani is playing. Alongside him are several other experienced players, and if we offer them something, they will know how to exploit it – highlighted coach Jerko Leko.

Dinamo's young team has already experienced playing in different conditions at the start of the league. For instance, in the 1st round away at Bijelo Brdo they played on artificial turf, while in Borovo against Vukovar they encountered a difficult pitch...

– I told the lads that I don't want to hear that 'the pitch is like this or like that'. I played in that league, I know what the pitches are like, some are fine, some are in worse condition due to the dry period. I think the pitch in Lučko for the match against Kustošija won't be much better than the one in Vukovar. But I believe most of that depends on us. If we're right in our passing, possession and taking responsibility, we can play against anyone in this league. Our lads have now felt that, and they need to enter the next round with that attitude.

The convincing victory against Vukovar has noticeably boosted the confidence of the entire team, especially after two opening defeats.

– It's awkward when you start with defeats, then questions arise like 'are we good enough, is everything in place as it should be'... That's why, for example, I chose friendly matches mostly against third division teams so our young players could feel senior football, but without too big a difference. Although I must say that the draw immediately gave us the most aggressive team at the start of the championship, BSK in Bijelo Brdo. They had a fiery baptism. But we're adapting, I think we'll be better with each match. Of course, there will be oscillations, we don't expect to win every time. There's no relaxing, we must take the good things and build upon them.

What's the situation with the squad?

– The news is that Marko Zebić has gone to Rudeš until the end of the half-season, that's a good step, we expect he'll be a first-team player, it's good for his development and we're proud of that. This means that Nikola Radnić will permanently join us from the junior ranks. We'll see if there will be any other departures or arrivals by Monday. Leonardo Perković is returning from injury, Noa Mikić will also be in the squad, returning after a minor injury, but we'll see if he'll start the match. We have an interesting series of matches this month ahead of us, first Kustošija, then Sesvete, followed by the match against Tottenham in the Premier League International Cup, after that Dugopolje... We'll face them ready – concluded coach Leko.
