Two opening defeats in the First NL have provided the coaching staff with plenty of details to analyse, but there are also several segments of play that give cause for optimism. Dinamo B play their opening four league rounds away from home, having already played the first two, with the hosts proving superior in both cases – BSK won 1-0 in Bijelo Brdo, while Orijent triumphed 3-0 in Rijeka. The next two matches are scheduled for this week, with Dinamo B visiting Vukovar 1991 in Borovo on Wednesday at 15:30, before facing city neighbours Kustošija on Sunday. With this "quartet of matches", the Blues will conclude this away package and then make their home debut at their ground in Zaprešić.

Dinamo's young team has therefore stepped up to senior competition, which is an important part of their development, and on their developmental path, greater emphasis is placed on forming their game, getting used to tough, experienced opponents and honing their talent.

– There were good things in these first two matches. For instance, I'm satisfied that we have possession, even dominate, and I thought that would be more difficult. You could see that our opponents tactically even allowed us to play because they believe we have good combination play, that we can get out of pressing, so both teams retreated into a middle block. After all, BSK spent a large part of the match in a lower block. We had two good chances in Rijeka before we conceded a goal. And just when you finally need to score that first goal, you make two mistakes that see you concede two in five minutes. These are mistakes that aren't forgiven in serious football and that's becoming clear now. They targeted the more experienced players who have played at a high level. I told the lads they don't need to look at the table, because we're not burdened by that, but they must ensure that everyone improves in their area of the pitch, that they perform their task as well as possible. In Rijeka, unlike the match against BSK, we created more opportunities, had three or four concrete chances and that's what we must build on – highlighted coach Jerko Leko.

The new challenge is therefore the away fixture against Vukovar 1991 on Wednesday at 15:30.

– I think it will be a similar match to the one against Orijent. We must be ready for any small detail, any wrong assessment, any delayed start to potentially cause us problems. The sooner they realise this, the fewer mistakes there will be. So, alongside our game, alongside the fact that we have possession and largely control the match, we still need to work on being more clinical.

At the end of July, Dinamo B and Vukovar 1991 played a friendly match at the Maksimir "Luka Modrić" pitch, where the Blues led 2-0, but Vukovar managed to equalise in the closing stages.

– We're visiting a very good team, it will be tricky on their pitch. In our play, we'll aim to have the ball. The pitch in Borovo isn't ideal, there will be difficulties in establishing our game, but the lads must adapt to that. I think Vukovar might be somewhere between BSK and Orijent in terms of aggression. They have quality. We played against them there, but it's not the same team as then, several new players have joined them.

At the start, Dinamo B played against an aggressive home side, then paid the price for their own mistakes in Rijeka, and all of this is perhaps an expected part of growing up.

– Yes, it's good that we're playing the first four rounds away from home, that we're going in "hard" straight away. Although, we're "at home" in Zaprešić, but at least there the opponent isn't on their own pitch. The players must understand as soon as possible that they need to take responsibility. For some younger ones who haven't yet touched senior football, we can have more patience. But the others must already take responsibility, and that means showing initiative on the pitch in the style of "I'm the one, I wear the Dinamo badge, I want to play here". Whoever takes that risk can hope that, with quality and good decisions on the pitch, they'll be able to make a living from football.

What squad will Dinamo B field in Borovo?

– Noa Mikić will be out due to injury from the last match. On this occasion, Kaloyan Bozhkov and Nikola Radnić will join us from the juniors, as in the 1st round. We've decided that Leonardo Perković should do a few more training sessions so he can compete for Sunday against Kustošija, he's returning after a long injury – concluded coach Leko.
