Dinamo B win a match full of twists away at league leaders Croatia

Croatia Zmijavci – Dinamo B 2-3

In an entertaining, open match with plenty of attractive play and a turnaround in the score, Dinamo B beat league leaders Croatia Zmijavci 3-2 away in Matchday 11 of the SuperSport Prva NL. Head coach Jerko Leko fielded a somewhat mixed line-up this time, as some players were included in the junior squad because of their UEFA Youth League commitments, UEFA's Champions League for youth teams.

The hosts found the net after just 28 seconds. Gojko Gadže went down the right wing and delivered a low cross into the six-yard box, where home forward Peter Ugwuodo got a slightly awkward touch. The ball bounced unpleasantly, so goalkeeper Tai Žnuderl could not smother it, and it rolled over the goal line.

Dinamo's young players responded sharply in pursuit of an equaliser, pressing the defence, and by the 9th minute they had in some ways "announced" a goal. Sven Šunta led the attack and struck powerfully from 18 metres. The ball grazed home centre-back David Čondrić on its way and deflected onto the post, from which it flew out of play. A corner followed, and it led to another move from the Blues. Šunta picked up the ball on the left wing and curled it to the far post, where Borna Orlić leapt and headed it into the near top corner.

Soon after, Fuzy Taylor played a superb through ball into Croatia's penalty area. Noah Nsoki ran in from the left wing behind the defence, but his shot was saved by the goalkeeper.

Dinamo B turned the score around in the 57th minute with a move featuring several skilful passes. Egor Molchan advanced down the right and played a short pass to Josip Brundić, who threaded a through ball down the channel to Šunta. He ran in from the left and, from 18 metres, precisely found the opposite bottom corner to give Leko's youngsters the lead.

The scoreboard "seesaw" had still not settled, as the hosts soon brought the match level. Croatia's left-back Duje Milišić took a throw-in, and as the ball flew into the penalty area, nobody managed to touch it. It bounced off the ground at the edge of the six-yard box, where Borna Pernar was waiting. He calmly stuck out a foot and placed it into the very corner to equalise.

The Blues secured the win in the 81st minute after an unusual own goal. Leko's side won the ball by pressing the opposition defence. Gabriel Šivalec intercepted it in the opposition half, somewhere around the centre circle, and Šunta received it. Although under pressure, he managed to pass it to Leonard Perković. As the move continued, the Maksimir forward returned the ball to Šunta, who carried it a few metres and then skilfully lobbed the goalkeeper. However, the ball hit the crossbar, and centre-back Čondrić tried to head it clear but made awkward contact and sent it into his own net.
