Dinamo convincing in Koprivnica, Beljo increases goal tally, Brundić makes debut

Slaven Belupo – Dinamo 1:4

PAST MATCH

With another impressive performance, featuring particularly inspired play in the second half, Dinamo's players overturned the hosts' lead and convincingly secured new points. In the penultimate 35th round of SuperSport HNL, coach Mario Kovačević's team defeated Slaven Belupo in Koprivnica 4:1, thus reaching a 20-point advantage over their closest rivals at this moment.

It was also a wonderful gift from the Maksimir players to their coach. Dinamo's strategist Mario Kovačević turned 51 this Sunday, thus receiving a double celebration – both birthday and victory.

The match offered numerous additional details. Dion Drena Beljo found the net and thus increased his tally to 31 league goals, with just three more needed to equal the record holder Eduardo da Silva. Furthermore, with these four goals, the Blues remain on track for another record: if they score at least one goal in the final round against Lokomotiva, they will be the most efficient team in the spring half-season in HNL history. The current spring average is 3.24 goals per match.

The Maksimir team has scored a record 17 goals against their Koprivnica opponents this competitive year, surpassing the previous record of 14 goals in their mutual matches in the "league of 10". This season they scored five goals in one encounter, while in the remaining three matches they scored four goals each time.

Junior Josip Brundić recorded his first minutes in an official first-team match, Paul Tabinas made his Dinamo debut in a league match this Sunday, while Juan Cordoba played for the first time this season and needed just 16 minutes to score a goal...

Dinamo played with a mixed squad, with Dominik Livaković, Josip Mišić, Luka Stojković, Miha Zajc, Scott McKenna, Sergi Dominguez, Bruno Goda, Arbër Hoxha absent... Several juniors appeared in the lineup, including Nikolas Šimić, son of former Maksimir captain Dario Šimić.

The Koprivnica side threatened first, in the 13th minute Igor Lepinjica ran onto a deflected ball from the right and struck powerfully from seven metres, but goalkeeper Ivan Filipović made a brilliant reaction save under the crossbar. Ten minutes later Matteo Perez Vinlöf advanced down the left flank through half the pitch, and after a one-two with Marko Soldo hit the side netting.

Slaven striker Losika Ratshukudu delivered a low cross from the left in the 27th minute, Perez Vinlöf slipped, so Filip Kruselj received the ball and from five metres on the right side slammed it into the goal for the hosts' lead.

Ratshukudu tried with a powerful shot in the 39th minute, but Filipović saved it. In the next action Leon Bošnjak curled from the left, while Lepinjica headed just over the goal.

Dinamo played more aggressively in the second half and equalized in the 50th minute. Mateo Lisica crossed from the right, goalkeeper Osman Hadžikić caught the ball in his jump but it slipped from his hands, Fran Topić rushed in and calmly slotted home from two metres.

Dinamo completed the comeback in the 58th minute, in an action involving Lisica, Beljo and Tabinas who crossed low from the right into the middle, and Gabriel Vidović fired into the net from about ten metres. Vidović shot in a similar manner and from almost the same position in the 63rd minute after being set up from the right by Sven Šunta, but Hadžikić saved the ball.

The Blues sealed the victory with two goals five minutes apart, in the 80th and 85th minutes. First Šunta shot with his left foot from about twenty metres, the home goalkeeper saved the ball, but Beljo rushed in and headed into the net. Shortly after, Perez Vinlöf led the attack, passing vertically to Cardoso Varela who sprinted down the left wing, crossed into the middle, Hadžikić only managed to touch the ball, Cordoba approached from the right and slotted into the goal.
