The charitable initiative "Step by Step – Walking for Those Who Cannot", launched by Danijela Lončarić, has now received an institutional framework and will collect funds for five athletes from the Association of the Blind of Međimurje County and shot put record holder, para-athlete Karla Hergotić, through a specially opened humanitarian account HR8224020061500170967 opened by Dinamo's "Never Give Up" Foundation at Erste Bank. Therefore, all income from sold registrations for the charitable walking ultramarathon in Prelog, as well as all other donations made to the account, will be directed towards the final beneficiaries, namely the Association of the Blind of Međimurje County and Karla Hergotić.

The charitable campaign "Step by Step – Walking for Those Who Cannot" is officially registered in the Registry of Humanitarian Campaigns under the designation GZG-HA/OST-26-19, which guarantees complete transparency and legality of implementation.

The goal of the campaign is to collect 45,000 euros for the procurement of orthopedic aids, sports equipment and covering rehabilitation costs for five members of the Association of the Blind of Međimurje County, which provides social-rehabilitation services to blind persons, and for Karla Hergotić, a young person with disabilities from Nedelišće, all in accordance with the Beneficiary Statements related to the purpose of the humanitarian campaign along with submitted offers for equipment procurement, necessary rehabilitation and services.

If a smaller amount than planned is collected, the same distribution ratio of humanitarian aid will be applied to the final beneficiaries – 63% to the Association of the Blind of Međimurje County and 37% to Karla Hergotić. If a larger amount than planned is collected, the funds will be directed to the real and documented needs of the humanitarian aid beneficiaries, in a greater scope of the mentioned therapies, services and sports activities.

The humanitarian campaign runs until September 30, 2026.

The central event of the humanitarian campaign will be held on September 5-6, 2026 in Prelog and throughout Međimurje County, where for the third time Croatia's first walking ultramarathon of 100 kilometers in 24 hours will take place.

The start is on Saturday at 2 PM, after the official opening at 11 AM, and the route is circular and flat – adapted for both recreational and experienced walkers. At refreshment stations, participants can expect water, fruit, refreshments, medical support and, perhaps most importantly, people cheering them on.

On Sunday, while the last walkers conquer the final kilometers, a family and sports program opens in Prelog: an inclusive football tournament where people with disabilities, recreational players, children and sports ambassadors play together, children's races of 100 and 200 meters, creative workshops, empathy workshops, obstacle simulators and sports challenges with closed eyes. The event closes with welcoming walkers at the finish line, medals, thanks and a group photo.

To participate, you don't need to walk all 100 kilometers. You can walk a section, you can come for an hour, you can simply come and support. Because the project's message has been the same from day one – every step counts.

The project has brought together more than a thousand participants over three years who have walked more than a thousand kilometers together, and through its activities more than 70,000 euros in aid has been collected. Funds have been secured for prosthetics, orthoses, sports wheelchairs and other aids for children and young people with disabilities.

Its founder Danijela Lončarić has so far walked around the islands of Krk, Korčula, southern Istria and Camino Zadar, Camino Međimurje and Camino Zagorje, and is currently preparing for her third 100-kilometer ultramarathon. Last year's edition at Zagreb's Jarun gathered 626 registered participants, 450 of them took to the route, and this spring more than 350 people walked the sections of southern Istria.
