Kovačević: We want to continue our winning rhythm

Match preview

PAST MATCH

After winning and bringing the Croatian championship title back to Maksimir, Dinamo's footballers are awaiting the season finale. Four rounds remain in the championship, and the next opponent on Saturday, 2 May, is Gorica away.

"We celebrated a little, both the players and the coaching staff. But we immediately got back to work, we've completed three training sessions, with one more to come. We are champions, that's what we wanted, to mathematically secure the title as soon as possible, and now our obligation is to continue playing like winners", were the first words of coach Mario Kovačević ahead of the new match.

The Blues are playing against Gorica for the fifth time this season - after a defeat at the start of the season, we've strung together three victories, including two league wins and one recent Cup semi-final victory, which was also the most goal-filled (6:3).

"In my opinion, they even have few points considering how well they play. They have a good, experienced team, especially the midfield line, colleague Carević has arranged that very well. Pozo, Kavelj, Prešir, Pavičić, these are all quality players. We certainly must be good and careful, there are also wingers Bogojević and Trontelj, who are playing in the form of their lives. However, I always repeat that we only look at ourselves, I believe we are better and more quality. I believe that on Saturday we won't make those mistakes like in the Cup and that we'll be smarter.", reasons our coach.

Dinamo secured the title quite early, so the question of motivation arose, as well as giving opportunities to some players who have played less so far.

"It shouldn't be difficult even without motivation, as champions it's our obligation to continue showing good games and I'm sure it will be so. As for the lineup, some players have minor problems, so we might rest them a little and give opportunities to some who have played less, but there won't be major changes. The only certainty is that Zajc won't be available again. However, we're only interested in playing a good match and winning.", concluded coach Mario Kovačević.
