Luka Ivanušec returns to Dinamo
Return
Brilliant and experienced Maksimir midfielder Luka Ivanušec is once again a Dinamo player. Three years and a week after his departure, Ivanušec begins his second playing stint at the blue club. And this time, just like during his first arrival in August 2019, he will wear the number 17 shirt.
The versatile Maksimir midfielder, who in his previous spell at Dinamo played central midfield, wing and attacking midfield depending on what was needed, was one of the key playmakers for four full years.
He returns to Maksimir in his prime playing years after spending three seasons at Feyenoord, with the last competitive season on loan at Greek club PAOK.
With Feyenoord he was Dutch runner-up, won the Cup and Super Cup, and played twice in the Champions League. In PAOK's shirt he played in the Europa League.
He made his Dinamo debut in the unforgettable victory against Atalanta in autumn 2019, soon scored his first European goal in the memorable clash against Shakhtar, the following season provided an assist for the celebration against Krasnodar in European spring, played all 120 minutes in the historic comeback against Tottenham, and was one of the architects of the great victory against Chelsea...
He left in August 2023 after the first leg of the Europa League play-off in which Dinamo beat Sparta Prague 3-1, where he was also on the scoresheet.
At the Maksimir club he won the championship title in each of his seasons, adding one Cup winner's trophy and two Super Cups. He played in the Champions League for two seasons, and also made it through the winter in European competition twice more...
He played 175 official matches with 37 goals scored. If we add friendly matches to that, the total figure rises to 190 appearances and 40 goals.
– I'm very happy to be here again, I'm pleased that we managed to get everything sorted, I can't wait to start training and matches with the team, to continue winning together. I'm returning after three years, I think I'm now more mature, more experienced, that I can help younger players, give them some advice. I know Dinamo well, I watched every match I could, I know everything, every player, who can do what... I think we have a very good team and that we'll look very good both in Europe and in the HNL – Ivanušec emphasized.
