Young Dinamo players put up good fight, but experienced Orijent secured convincing victory

Orijent – Dinamo B 3-0

Young Dinamo players came close to scoring and hit the crossbar, but the hosts laid the foundation for their victory with two quick goals within less than five minutes. In the 2nd round match of the SuperSport First NL, Orijent defeated Dinamo B 3-0 at their home ground at Krimeja in Rijeka. Fuzy Taylor made his debut for the young Zagreb team on this occasion, the newly arrived midfielder from Ghana. He came off the bench in the 61st minute when the hosts already had a three-goal lead, and impressed with several good moves and two very good long-range shots.

Orijent threatened early in the match, in the 4th minute Charles Agada crossed from the right side, and at the far post Miroslav Iličić struck with his left foot while jumping at the edge of the penalty area. In a difficult situation, goalkeeper Tai Žnuderl managed to catch the ball while falling and deflect it onto the crossbar.

About ten minutes later Gabrijel Šivalec crossed from the left with his right foot, and Mislav Ćutuk headed the ball just wide of the goal. Dinamo came close to scoring in the 21st minute, captain Marko Zebić played a through ball, Jona Benkotić skillfully received it and ran into the penalty area, but at the last moment goalkeeper Domagoj Ivan Marić managed to get to the shot and deflect the ball onto the post with his foot.

Shortly after, between the 27th and 32nd minute, the hosts took a commanding lead with two goals. Experienced Franko Andrijašević on the right side, right along the touchline, sent a precise vertical high ball where Noa Aron Stašić received it on the right wing, rushed diagonally into the penalty area and struck powerfully toward the near corner. Goalkeeper Žnuderl managed to get to it, but it still ended up in the net.

Fran Peček sent the ball to the right in the 32nd minute, Vanja Šare headed it down short, Stašić received it, ran to the goal line and played it back where Andrijašević ran in from six meters and scored for 2-0.

The blues could have quickly gotten back into the game, practically in the next attack it sparked in front of the home goal. Benkotić played to the right for Šivalec who struck powerfully with his right foot from 15 meters under the crossbar, but goalkeeper Marić prevented the goal with a save. Benkotić tried again in the 40th minute, shooting from 18 meters, but once again the home goalkeeper prevented it.

Orijent scored their third goal in the 59th minute, and the action was both started and finished by center-back Domagoj Prpić. He intercepted the ball in his own half, then Jakov Bilajac led the attack, played to the left for former Dinamo junior Patrik Majdandžić, who sent it low into the penalty area... The ball was touched by Zebić after which Prpić received it with his right foot and struck powerfully with his left to make it 3-0.

Debutant Taylor launched the ball from almost 30 meters in the 68th minute and it flew just wide of the bottom corner. Two minutes later Šivalec crossed from the right, and Lovre Kulušić headed just wide of the goal.
