The Blues gather in Zagreb at the start of preparations for the new season

First roll call at Maksimir

After a break and rest period of just over three weeks, Dinamo's footballers have gathered in Zagreb at the start of preparations for the 2026/2027 season.

Coach Mario Kovačević conducted the first roll call at Maksimir, with all players present except for two who are with their national teams at the World Cup, Scott McKenna (Scotland) and Stjepan Radeljić (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

The current Croatian champions and Cup winners will complete the first, initial part of preparations in Zagreb, which will also include testing and medical examinations.

Work will continue at Maksimir until Sunday, 21 June, and then on Monday, 22 June we move to the main part of preparations at our now permanent base, Brdo near Kranj. The Blues will prepare in Slovenia until Friday, 3 July.

As part of the preparations, a total of four friendly matches will be played: two in Slovenia and two in Zagreb. We will inform you about the exact dates and opponents in the coming days.

"I think we've had a good rest. Three weeks was just right, and we know that we gave the key players time off after the Cup final, so they had an additional ten days of rest. I feel great because I can see that everyone is healthy, we're here in full strength, except for Scott and Stjepan. We have enough time to prepare well for the first match, which comes on 21 or 22 June in the Champions League qualifiers. I'm very happy about Oršić's return, he means a lot to us both for his quality and his influence in the dressing room. Now we have good foundations from last season, and we want to continue on the path of how we played in the spring. As long as injuries stay away from us, I believe we'll be ready", highlighted coach Mario Kovačević at his first appearance this season before the assembled journalists.
