The Blues earn applause on their Maksimir debut, Dinamo records 16:2 goal difference in three matches
Dinamo – Koper 4:2
Dinamo continued their preparations at an intense pace, and after two tests in Slovenia, coach Mario Kovačević's team presented themselves to the Maksimir crowd for the first time in the new competitive season this Wednesday. The Blues earned applause from the stands, with the fans rewarding the players and staff for their commitment, attractive play and another series of goals in the opponent's net. Dinamo defeated Slovenian runners-up Koper 4:2 in a match where all six goals came in the second half. An impressive statistic is that Dinamo has recorded a 16:2 goal difference in their three preparatory matches so far.
Maksimir fans saw Mislav Oršić in his recognizable blue shirt with number 99 for the first time in three and a half years, and naturally gave him an enthusiastic welcome with thunderous applause.
Dinamo threatened as early as the 2nd minute, when Niko Galešić sent a long ball from deep to the left wing, where Oršić collected it, played a short pass into the center, but Dion Drena Beljo didn't control it well with his left foot.
A brilliant long move unfolded in the 15th minute, concluded by Miha Zajc with a short pass and Mounsef Bakrar with a powerful volley from 17 meters. However, goalkeeper Luka Baš made a spectacular save, tipping the ball under the crossbar.
Three minutes later Zajc sent the ball right to Bakrar in space, who furiously drove towards the penalty area and struck powerfully, hitting the far post. Soon after, Oršić from a throw-in found Beljo who burst from the left to the edge of the six-yard box, looking for Bakrar with a short return pass, but the ball got stuck in the crowd.
However, the "tap" on the Slovenian goal was opened in the continuation of the match. Zajc intercepted the ball in the center in the 47th minute, played vertically to Beljo, who skillfully went past the defender with his first touch, broke clear in front of the goalkeeper and scored for the lead. Moris Valinčić crossed from the right in the 59th minute, and Beljo headed just wide from the edge of the six-yard box.
The visitors also threatened in the 61st minute, Benjamin Adrović got the ball at the edge of the six-yard box, but goalkeeper Ivan Nevistić made a spectacular save. Three minutes later Dinamo doubled their lead when goalkeeper Baš sent a vertical low pass towards the center, the ball was intercepted by Josip Mišić who sprinted ahead of the opposing player. In the penalty area Beljo collected it, laid it short for Stojković who placed it into the goal. It was Stojković's first touch of the ball, just seconds after entering the game.
The visitors reduced the deficit in the 82nd minute from a counter-attack led by Adrović. Goalkeeper Nevistić saved his shot, but Kamil Manseri pounced on the rebound and scored.
Then, three minutes later, came Stojković's masterpiece that delighted the fans. Sven Šunta passed him the ball short in the center of the field, Stojković moved forward and struck powerfully from 25 meters with his right foot. The ball bounced off the post into the net.
The visitors briefly "got back into the game" in the 90th minute when former Dinamo junior Leo Rimac ran down the right wing, cut inside, and Adrović scored for 3:2. However, in the second minute of stoppage time Arbër Hoxha crossed short from the left side of the penalty area to the edge of the six-yard box, and Fran Topić skillfully diverted it into the net.
