45,314 euros raised for six young para-athletes!
Humanitarian campaign concluded in just three days
On Monday, 7 September, just three days after the official start, the humanitarian campaign "Step by Step – Walking for Those Who Cannot" was successfully completed. The campaign was launched through the joint efforts of Danijela Lončarić, the project's founding visionary who has been running it for three years, along with Dinamo Foundation Nema predaje and project partners.
Thanks to a donation from the Chef kuha doma Association of 35,000 euros, combined with the previously raised 10,314 euros, the campaign's goal was exceeded – raising 45,000 euros for orthopedic aids, sports equipment, rehabilitation and training for six young para-athletes from Međimurje.
The assistance is intended for Lana, Lora, Vita, David and Lovro, members of the Association of the Blind of Međimurje County, and Karla Hergotić, a para-athlete from Nedelišće and world record holder in shot put in her discipline.
The central event of the campaign was the walking ultramarathon "100 kilometres in 24 hours", held on 5 and 6 September in Prelog and throughout Međimurje. It brought together almost 300 walkers, with 33 of them completing the full 100 kilometres! From entry fees and donations during the ultramarathon, 10,314 euros was raised, and the generous donation from the Chef kuha doma Association already enabled the conclusion of this humanitarian story on Monday.
The raised funds will help Karla acquire prosthetic feet and corresponding prosthetic parts, throwing equipment, and financing therapies and indoor training preparations in Zagreb. For the young athletes from the Association of the Blind, the funds are intended for therapeutic climbing, physiotherapy, training and memberships, as well as purchasing sports equipment, including cycling, volleyball and adapted chess equipment.
Thank you to all the walkers, volunteers, partners and donors who, through their commitment, helped this story end with concrete support for young athletes. Special thanks to Bruno Lerotić, Igor Čimbur and their Team nenormalni, who through the Chef kuha doma Association's donation enabled us to reach and exceed the campaign's goal together.
Every step, every donation and every contribution was part of our shared journey.
Thank you from the heart and remember – you will never walk alone!
The humanitarian campaign was conducted under registration number GZG-HA/OST-26-19.
