Dinamo's young footballers delivered a brilliant and inspired performance, with skillful build-up play and attractive attacking moves, to record their first victory in a competitive match in this "new lineup". In the 3rd round SuperSport First NL clash, they defeated hosts Vukovar 1991 at the Borovo ground 6-2.

Eight goals in total, the crossbar hit twice - once at each end - numerous chances and a football spectacle, all on a difficult and bumpy pitch, marked this brilliant football afternoon.

Coach Jerko Leko's team was already leading 3-0 after just 20 minutes. They first found the net after less than two minutes of play. Jona Benkotić picked up the ball at the center circle, launched the attack and played it right to Tomas Baković. He shot from 17 meters, with the ball deflecting off a defender before hitting the net. Just eight minutes later, Gabrijel Šivalec launched a long diagonal from the left flank to the right wing, where Josip Brundić collected it, used his left foot to dribble into a shooting position and fired with his right into the near bottom corner. This time too, the ball deflected off a defender on its way past the goalkeeper.

Šivalec produced an impressive piece of skill in the 16th minute that drew applause, brilliantly controlling a long ball near the touchline before skillfully working his way forward with several touches. He shook off his marker, burst into the penalty area and played a return pass, but the hosts cleared the danger at the last moment.

But in the 20th minute, Dinamo extended their lead to three goals. Brundić played a short pass on the right to Fran Kasumović, who from the edge of the penalty area sent a precise low ball to the "far post" where Lovre Kulušić was waiting to slam it home.

The hosts also tried their luck, with Ugosinho firing over the bar from the edge of the penalty area in the 28th minute, before Rai shot from seven meters on the right five minutes later, but goalkeeper Tai Žnuderl managed to save. The hosts came close to scoring again in the 38th minute when Niko Pajvančić intercepted a pass in Dinamo's half and played left to the advancing Rai, who then tried to round Žnuderl, but Dinamo's keeper was quicker and caught the ball.

However, in first-half stoppage time, Vukovar reduced the deficit. Dominik Pavlek advanced down the left flank and sent a sharp low cross into the penalty area where Fran Petković got a foot to it and found the opposite bottom corner.

Žnuderl stopped another dangerous Rai attempt in the 51st minute. There was a spectacular sequence in the 57th minute: Nikola Zlatunić skillfully controlled a long ball before unleashing a powerful shot from 15 meters on the right side... The ball rocketed like a cannonball and hit the post before bouncing off the goal line and hitting the post again! The referee judged that the ball did not cross the goal line on that trajectory...

Four minutes later, the net bulged at the other end. Šivalec was pressing the home defender as he tried to clear the ball from his defensive third. This approach paid off as Krešimir Vrbanac was forced to clear hastily but hit Kulušić in the process. The ball rebounded into the penalty area where the architect of this move, Šivalec, had timed his run perfectly and fired a powerful volley under the crossbar.

Dinamo continued to pressure the opposition defense and on this platform scored their fifth goal in the 79th minute. In a scramble in the penalty area, the ball was blocked several times before Sven Šunta had a go, and after another block, Kaloyan Bozhkov pounced on the rebound and hammered it home from 15 meters.

The hosts pulled one back in the 82nd minute when Pavlek scored from the penalty spot. Ugosinho had burst into the penalty area from the left where he was fouled by Brundić.

In the all-out attacking play of the closing stages, Mislav Ćutuk had as many as seven shots in just five minutes. In the 87th minute, the goalkeeper first stopped him before Ćutuk fired the rebound from an acute angle on the left into the crossbar.

In the 90th minute, he finally capitalized on brilliant service from Karlo Zulfić, who skillfully turned on the right flank and cleverly slipped the ball into the penalty area between two defenders. Ćutuk made his run and effortlessly scored Dinamo's sixth goal.

The young Maksimir team's next challenge will be on Sunday away against city neighbors Kustošija.
