Coach Kovačević: We want to score early against Osijek too, our goal is good play and victory

Match Preview

UPCOMING MATCH

The two-week league break came just when Dinamo was in full form, stringing together victories with attractive attacking play. The Blues in the spring half of the HNL season have averaged an impressive 3.3 goals scored per match, and we'll see what rhythm they continue the competition in on Holy Saturday when Osijek will visit Maksimir at 3 PM in the 28th round of SuperSport HNL.

– When Dinamo plays, especially at home, expectations are always the same – to play well and win. It's the same this time. Osijek is now coached by my colleague Tomislav Radotić, and since he arrived they haven't conceded a single goal in these four matches. But I believe we will score a goal, from the first minute we will play like in the last match against Lokomotiva, we want to score as early as possible to make things easier for us afterwards – emphasized Dinamo coach Mario Kovačević.

How did you use the two-week break?

– We tried to refresh ourselves a bit, rest, regain strength. Our desire is to be even better. We have quite a few internationals so we weren't complete in training. Those who stayed here worked very well. Now the players who were involved in national team duties are gradually returning to us.

What's the squad situation?

– Matteo Perez Vinlöf is ill so he won't be in contention for the match. We'll see what condition Dominik Livaković is in, he felt some problems and had to go for examination. He only returned from national team duty on Thursday, we'll see if he'll be ready. All others are in the squad.

Dion Drena Beljo is in full swing, currently the league's top scorer with 20 goals and realistic prospects of reaching an impressive 30 by season's end. Croatia national team coach Zlatko Dalić publicly said that he and his staff are satisfied with the current quartet of strikers in the national team and added: "The place for a striker is open, but as things stand now – that's it."

– I wouldn't want to interfere with the coach's job, he does it very well. If Beljo reaches 30 or more goals, that should be appreciated, but the coach will decide. My wish is for Beljo to continue like this.

Dinamo's coach thinks similarly about Luka Stojković.

– Likewise, if he continues to play like this consistently, it will be good. Both he and Beljo received call-ups which is an indicator that the coach is following what's happening. I watch them in training and matches and I believe they will earn their way to the World Cup – added coach Kovačević.
