Dinamo – Rijeka 1-0 (Soudani in stoppage time, path to the title)

El Arabi Hilal Soudani fired the ball into the net in the 3rd minute of stoppage time, igniting euphoria in the stands and securing victory for the Blues in the derby. Dinamo defeated Rijeka 1-0 in the league match at Maksimir Stadium, taking an additional step in the battle for the championship title which they eventually won with 11 points more than second-placed Rijeka.

Dinamo played attacking football from the start, pressing the defence and controlling the match, but they only found the corridor to goal in the final seconds.

On this occasion, the Blues' main engine – Sammir – was absent from the squad. He suffered an injury the day before in training and had to miss this encounter.

The best chance in the first half was created by the Blues in the 32nd minute when Soudani charged down the right flank, delivered a low cross into the centre, the visitors briefly cleared the ball, Arijan Ademi rushed in, but goalkeeper Ivan Vargić cleverly saved the shot with his foot.

Rijeka played more aggressively in the second half, and former Maksimir striker Ivan Krstanović threatened Dinamo's goal. He struck powerfully from the left side into the far corner, but Dinamo goalkeeper Oliver Zelenika made a brilliant save.

The Blues came close to scoring in the 68th minute when Junior Fernandes went past the goalkeeper and then hit the crossbar. Soon after, Soudani unleashed a powerful volley from close range, but the ball sailed over the goal.

The Maksimir stands erupted in the 3rd minute of stoppage time. Zvonko Pamić, who had come off the bench just four minutes earlier, delivered a free kick from about thirty metres on the right side, almost at the touchline. Soudani ran onto the ball, escaped his markers and headed home from the edge of the six-yard box.
