Dinamo – Hajduk 3-1
Three goals, a convincing victory for the Blues, but with an even better performance that could and should have ended with a higher margin... That's how the autumn Maksimir derby looked, in which Dinamo defeated Hajduk 3-1 and thus took the top spot in the table.
After nine rounds, Dinamo had 14 points, followed by Željezničar and Radnički from Niš, each with 13, then Crvena zvezda with 12... In the end, Zvezda became champions, while the Blues finished in 6th place. Between them were Partizan, Velež, Željezničar and OFK Beograd.
The Blues took the lead in the 12th minute when Josip Gutzmirtl sent the ball to the left wing, Krasnodar Rora ran past his marker and cut the ball low into the centre. As the ball flew towards the penalty area, three visiting players missed it. Neither Ivan Iko Buljan nor Dragan Holcer nor Miroslav Ferić managed to intercept it, so Ivica Gegi Miljković calmly received it in front of goal and slotted it home.
The visitors equalised four minutes later. Ivan Pavlica from the left side, almost by the corner flag, launched a long high ball into Dinamo's penalty area. Maksimir goalkeeper Fahrija Dautbegović rushed out but misjudged the ball's trajectory... He went for nothing, after which Petar Nadoveza calmly headed the ball into the net.
The Blues regained the lead in the 41st minute after Mladen Ramljak eliminated half of the opposing team with a masterful move. He started with the ball from his own half and in an impressive slalom run past all obstacles, dribbled past three defenders and with a sharp low shot from 15 metres placed it into his left bottom corner.
The move for the third goal was initiated by Rudolf Belin, creating a miniature similar to Ramljak's. The only difference was that Belin was the provider, not the scorer. He started from the centre, in a skilful run with sudden changes of direction, on the right side he beat two opposing defenders who lost their balance. When he approached the goal line, at the last moment, effectively turning, he managed to cross into the centre. At the near post, Marijan Novak met the ball and in front of goalkeeper Ante Sirković volleyed it to the far side of Hajduk's goal.
