Dinamo – Osijek 5-0 (The Road to the Title)
Dinamo outplayed Osijek 5-0 in a convincing performance, going top of the table after 13 rounds with a seven-point lead over their closest challengers. The match was also marked by the return of Junior Fernandes after more than six months out with injury. What's more, Fernandes scored just 30 seconds after coming off the bench and shortly afterwards hit the crossbar.
Duje Čop broke the visitors' resistance with a goal in the 10th minute. El Arabi Hilal Soudani crossed from the right, Čop darted in front of the defender, collected the ball and found the far corner.
Dinamo initially struggled to break through the opposition's block, so they occasionally relied on long-range efforts. Jozo Šimunović tried his luck in the 31st minute, but the ball flew just over the goal, and shortly afterwards Soudani rattled the crossbar.
In the second half, Dinamo found the net four times in fewer than 20 minutes. Captain Domagoj Antolić delivered a corner in the 51st minute, and Jeremy Taravel headed the ball into the net.
Just two minutes later, Marcelo Brozović won a loose ball and crossed from the left, and Soudani ran in and sent a powerful header into the very corner.
Fernandes then took to the pitch. He came on in the 61st minute and found the net just thirty seconds later. Soudani crossed, and Fernandes made a superb run to the far post and headed in for 4-0. Two minutes later, Fernandes came close to another goal, but hit the crossbar...
Soudani wrapped up the story in the 70th minute, scoring Dinamo's fifth goal. He took the ball on the right side, cut inside and, with a precise shot from the edge of the penalty area, found the very corner for 5-0.
