Dinamo defeated German side Schalke 3-1 at Maksimir Stadium. It was a match in the Grasshopper Cup, a competition that spanned four years. Six teams participated: Grasshoppers, Fiorentina, Austria Vienna, Nice, Schalke and Dinamo. They played in a double round-robin system, with matches organised whenever free dates could be found.
