Vlaović scored 29 goals in 1993/94, also wearing the Maksimir club's jersey, which remained the league record until Eduardo's masterful season. In the city derby at Kranjčevićeva, the Blues led 2-0 with goals from Josip Tadić and Dino Drpić before Eduardo added two more for the final 4-0 scoreline. Popular Dudu had already equalled Vlaović's tally before the match against Zagreb, so his first goal in that game, making it 3-0, meant he became the sole record holder. As he was also the hero of the derby against Hajduk in the following match in the final league round, scoring a hat-trick in a 3-0 victory, Eduardo finished the season with 34 goals scored, averaging more than one goal per match.
