With a draw against Split, 0-0, the Maksimir footballers concluded the season and celebrated their seventh consecutive, and 14th overall, championship title in the HNL. They mathematically secured the trophy much earlier, and with the match against Split they rounded off a successful season by winning the double crown. They finished the competition with a 21-point advantage over runners-up Hajduk.
