A hat-trick scored by brilliant centre-forward Slobodan Santrač halted Dinamo on their path towards the title. The Zagreb side lost momentum in their title chase with this match against OFK Belgrade at Maksimir Stadium. The visitors, even without Miloš Milutinović and Dragoslav Šekularac, celebrated a 3-0 victory thanks to Santrač's hat-trick. After 28 rounds played, Dinamo were second with three points fewer than Red Star and one point ahead of their closest pursuers, Partizan. This order remained the same at the end of the season, which the Zagreb side finished with the same three-point deficit behind the champions.
