Dinamo – Istra 1961 6-3 (Cup won)
Dinamo's footballers stormed to their 16th Croatian Cup winner's trophy with a dominant performance on the rain-soaked pitch in Velika Gorica. In the final clash in Velika Gorica, they outplayed Istra 1961 with a 6-3 victory in a match where they scored two goals in the first nine minutes, led 3-0 at half-time, though the Pula side then managed to inject some uncertainty into the proceedings.
By winning the Cup, Dinamo sealed one of the most successful seasons in the club's history as the Blues, alongside the double crown, reached the Europa League quarter-finals.
This was also Dinamo's 12th double crown in history.
Already in the fifth minute, Ademi crossed into the box where Mislav Oršić was waiting "at the far post" and hammered the ball into the net. Just four minutes later, the Maksimir captain switched from provider to goalscorer. Bruno Petković expertly delivered from the left, and Ademi slid in at the edge of the six-yard box for the Blues' second goal. Petković was also at the source of the third goal in the 33rd minute. He sent a superb ball to the right into the penalty area where Lovro Majer collected it, freed himself from his marker with skilful dribbling and found the near bottom corner.
The Pula side brought some uncertainty back into the match in the 52nd and 53rd minutes with two almost identical moves. In both cases, Sergi crossed from the left side, and Taichi Hara put the ball into the net. The only difference was that the Japanese striker scored his first goal with his head and the next with his foot.
Dinamo pulled away to a two-goal lead again six minutes later. Luka Ivanušec, after brilliant one-two play with Ademi, found himself alone on the left side, placed the ball past the goalkeeper, and Josip Šutalo deflected it into his own net right on the goal line. The referee judged that the collision between Dinamo goalkeeper Danijel Zagorac and Antonio Ivančić in the 63rd minute was a foul worthy of a penalty. Šime Gržan converted from the spot to make it 4-3.
The Blues sealed the victory in the 75th and 83rd minutes. First, Marko Tolić led a counter-attack down the right flank and expertly crossed to the "far post" where Oršić appeared and hammered home for 5-3. Eight minutes later, Tolić again brilliantly collected a long ball, crossed into the middle again, and this time Mario Gavranović "played the Oršić role" and sent it beyond the goal line. The ball nearly ended up in the Pula net for a seventh time. Lirim Kastrati crossed from the right in the 87th minute, and his attempted lob bounced off the crossbar.
