After his shot, Maksimir goalkeeper Ivica Gegi Miljković attempted to clear the ball from the goal line, but Šurjak managed to follow up and confirm the goal. The match was played at Belgrade's Marakana in front of 40,000 spectators, with the interesting fact that the majority of visitors entered for free while, as the media reported, only 6,369 tickets were actually sold.
