Građanski – Hajduk 4-2 (path to the title)

Građanski took a step closer to the championship title by defeating Hajduk 4-2. The Zagreb side faced significant difficulties in assembling their squad. Both goalkeepers were unavailable – Franjo Glaser and Emil Urch. Between the posts stood 16-year-old Vladimir Cingula. However, it's true that Hajduk had similar problems, and they also had to field a youth goalkeeper, Veljko Lovrić. Coach Marton Bukovi couldn't count on three more regular players, as Franjo Mara Wölfl, Florijan Conjo Matekalo and Ivan Šuprina were absent.

The Zagreb team took the lead through Zvonimir Cimermančić in the 15th minute after excellent interplay with Milan Antolković. The Blues doubled their advantage nine minutes later when young defender Ljubomir Kokeza clumsily deflected the ball into his own net following a cross from Drago Žalant. The Split side got back into the game at the very end of the first half when they scored two goals within two minutes. First, Ivo Alujević launched a counterattack which Ivo Radovniković finished with a goal, and shortly after, Alujević himself found the net. Right at the start of the second half, August Jutt sent a long ball, August Lešnik was quicker than goalkeeper Lovrić, and Žalant 'ripped' the net with a powerful shot. Lešnik concluded the scoring in the 57th minute when, after Lovrić's mistake, he collected the ball and effortlessly lobbed it over the Split defense into a practically empty net.

Građanski's footballers were in third place in the table after this victory. Four rounds before the end, Sarajevo's Slavija was at the top with 10 points, followed by Belgrade's BSK with nine, Građanski with eight, Belgrade's Jugoslavija with seven... The Zagreb team eventually took over the top spot and won the title at the end of the season. It was a season in which Građanski was actually a 'double champion': after winning first place in the Croatian-Slovenian League, which was the qualifying group for the national championship, the Zagreb side also claimed the title of the best team in all of Yugoslavia.
