Građanski – Chelsea 0-1
Chelsea visited Zagreb, and on that very day our celebrated goalkeeper Franjo Glaser made his first appearance for Građanski. Chelsea somewhat 'took revenge on behalf of Liverpool' against the Zagreb side. A year earlier, Građanski had defeated Liverpool's team 5-1, but on this occasion the English side celebrated. The London club won 1-0 in a match where Građanski, despite the defeat, played very well and created chances.
Interestingly, the match in Zagreb was refereed by the then well-known English referee Walter Lewington. Chelsea's players stayed at the Hotel Esplanade, arrived two days before the match, trained on Građanski's pitch, and even organized two excursions to the Zagreb surroundings...
The match was played on Thursday, between the final two weekends of the national championship. Građanski had already mathematically secured the title at that point, and on this occasion presented to the Zagreb public a major signing - the celebrated national team goalkeeper Franjo Glaser, who had previously played for the Zagreb side's great rival, Belgrade's BSK.
