Dinamo – Nice 5-1 (Wölfl's farewell)

The popular striker and club's all-time leading goalscorer, Franjo Mara Wölfl, bid farewell to football. Although he played his last competitive match in the blue jersey in the previous season, the match against French side Nice was an opportunity for at least a ceremonial farewell.

The protocol had planned for Wölfl to play, but as he got injured shortly before, he couldn't take to the field. However, he at least performed the ceremonial kick-off, and was given a ceremonial send-off with farewell speeches by Dinamo president Ivica Kolić, general secretary Otto Hofmann, teammate and captain Ivica Horvat, as well as other club and Federation officials. The Zagreb crowd naturally rewarded him with enthusiastic applause.

Nice came to Zagreb just a week after winning the French Cup by defeating Olympique Marseille 2-1 in the final. Dinamo, meanwhile, had been crowned Yugoslav champions at the beginning of the same month. The double scorer against Nice was Luka Lipošinović, while Aleksandar Benko, Željko Čajkovski and Stojan Osojnak each found the net once. This was a Grasshopper Cup match, a competition that spanned four years. Six teams participated: Grasshoppers, Fiorentina, Austria Vienna, Nice, Schalke and Dinamo. They played in a double round-robin system, with matches organized whenever free dates could be found. In this system, a total of 30 matches were played, with Fiorentina ultimately winning with 15 points ahead of Nice with 12, while Dinamo finished third with 11.
